Secured far below guidelines sentence for an individual convicted of insider trading in the District of Massachusetts

In a significant insider trading case involving alleged millions in illicit profits from trading ahead of earnings, Dynamis’ client initially began cooperating with the government. Ultimately, the client dropped out of cooperation, which left him exposed to a guidelines sentencing range of approximately four years in prison. The government took revenge and demanded that the judge sentence the client to four years in prison, coupled with a multi-million dollar fine. The sentencing hearing was heavily contested, and Eric was able to have a portion of the government’s sentencing memo thrown out because of a late disclosed wiretap. Ultimately, after nearly four hours of oral argument, the Court sentenced the client to a year and a day in prison, of which the client served approximately three months before being released to a halfway house and home confinement.
